What comes to mind when you think about Romania? Or let’s put it like that: why would you visit Romania?
My answer is easy, it’s the raw beauty of its mountains and forests, the simple charm of its villages, and the honest hospitality of the people. Luckily, more and more young entrepreneurs understand this and come to meet those needs.
Delightful small guesthouses set in idyllic places, be it remote traditional villages or a secluded hilltop, pop up not only in Transylvania, but all over the country. And discovering them is a real adventure.
You might know by now, we try to keep up with everything new in Romania so, every other month, we pack a bag and go explore, trying to find these distant, yet unknown or unpolished gems. And what a beautiful surprise when, after a long and tiresome day of travelling, we come across a peaceful and elegant guesthouse, where one can feel truly at home!
Most of the times, the owners of these places are young people who, understanding their heritage and its importance in finding their own roots, leave behind a life of comfort in the big city, and return to villages where their families lived, sometimes generations ago. These people are to be praised, as it takes guts to start something completely new, to not only just follow a trend, but to be pioneers. And if you listen to their stories, you will find true passion, a contagious enthusiasm and love for the old ways, for the simple life, for authentic experiences. These people will greet you like you’re family, and for the short period you share the roof with them, you will feel like you’re part of something bigger, part of their dream of showing the world the genuine Romanian hospitality and the beauty that’s all around us, in this simple, yet classy way of life.
