Beyond Dracula began as an idea that many found crazy: to put Romania on the map of bespoke travel.

It was Giulio da Sacco who came up with it while on a trip in Asia that lacked focus and personal touch. 

Together with his wife, Alexandra, they thought Romania is the perfect destination for those who understand luxury in the sense of unique experiences, but no one knows about it.

This made them create Beyond Dracula. 

Since 2013, when Raluca joined as the Managing Partner, Beyond Dracula has evolved into a company dedicated to providing exceptional experiences for explorers of Romania.

Raluca Spiac

Managing Partner

Raluca is the Managing Partner of Beyond Dracula. With more than 9 years of international experience, having worked for a luxury mega-yacht builder in Germany and for McKinsey in Sao Paulo, Brazil, holding an MBA from INSEAD, Raluca is in the perfect position to drive Beyond Dracula towards being a leader in the luxury bespoke travel industry in Europe.

Alexandra Da Sacco

PARTNER

Alexandra, Partner at Beyond Dracula, was born and raised in Romania, but traveled extensively while studying and working in Germany, Singapore and France. She is particularly in love with Transylvania, where Giulio and her are opening a guesthouse, and Maramures, where her mother comes from. Alexandra holds an MBA from INSEAD and has extensive professional experience in banking and consulting.

Giulio Da Sacco

PARTNER

Giulio is one of the 3 partners at Beyond Dracula and the only one who is not Romanian. After having visited Romania and falling in love with it, and with extensive experience in the hospitality industry, Giulio now runs one of the best Italian restaurants in Bucharest (GRANO) and clearly sees the great potential of Romania as a tourist destination.

Oana Imbarus

Operations Manager

Oana is Beyond Dracula’s COO. Born and raised in Transylvania, Oana studied in Timisoara where she earned a B.S. in Economics and worked for a multinational corporation before moving to the United States, where she spent 10 years in operations in the California’s state government. She and her American husband, Andy, have traveled around the world but decided to exchange the West Coast for a new lifestyle in Romania.

Roxana Pop

Operations Manager

Roxana holds an MA in American Studies and, having worked as a tour guide across Europe in the past, she joined Beyond Dracula as an Operations Manager. Having lived in Spain and Austria, she now lives in the countryside in Romania, running a beautiful guesthouse.

Monica Gavrila

Guest Ambassador

Monica has been with Beyond Dracula for a while now. With a B.S. and Master’s in International Economic Relations and a passion for travel, having traveled extensively to the US, Asia and Europe, her role is crucial in developing itineraries and assisting our guests throughout their visits. She loves Romania and her passion is what drives her.

Ioana Moica

Travel Designer

Ioana is one of Beyond Dracula’s Travel Designers.  After spending 10 years working in translation customer service, she recently decided to make a career change. Ioana left her desk job to uncover the hidden treasures of Romania for everyone to experience them on the bespoke trips she creates. Picture vibrant tales, breathtaking landscapes, and genuine hospitality – she is here to guide you through it all!

This was the second time that a friend and I used Raluca Spiac and her staff to plan a trip to Romania. The first trip, most of it in eastern Romania, was so terrific that we decided to visit the western side of this fascinating country. Raluca does an excellent job of designing itineraries, willing to make any changes desired. Romania itself is amazing. The bucolic scenery, stunning vistas, colorful villages, friendly people, and interesting variety of architecture. Every day brought a surprise.
